Work Together to make Weymouth & Portland Successful says new Chamber President

Michelle Hind of Redferns Solicitors was elected President of the Weymouth & Portland Chamber of Commerce for a second term at their AGM, held on 25 February. She is joined on the Executive Committee by new Vice President, the Vice President is Shenis Cant of Silversrfing Ltd and the Junior Vice President is Andrew Knowles of Dorset Social Media. Mike House of Albert Goodman was appointed Treasurer for the second year.

 President Michelle began by pointing out the challenges facing Weymouth and Portland local businesses, as well as the local authority she stated: “ I am here today as I am convinced that we can and we must work together. Whatever differences we may have I know that all of us share a deep abiding belief in our town, a belief in our people, a belief in our principles, a belief in ourselves.”

She went on to stress the need to lay down the foundations to make Weymouth and Portland the best place on the South Coast to do business, to grow, innovate and succeed. “The responsibility that we all have to secure the future is something that we all share.” The President said she would continue to work with Business leaders, Weymouth College and education providers in the local area, the Tourism Partnership, the Local Authority and the Coastal Communities Team and finally presented the Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce Strategic Plan for the next 3 years.

 President Michelle thanked the Executive Committee members from 2015 now leaving for all their hard work and commitment and presented Honorary Memberships to Past Presidents Anna-Maria Geare and Julie Cleaver to acknowledge the Chamber’s appreciation of their work.
