Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) is pleased to announce that both the Kingcombe Centre and the Chesil Beach Centre will be exhibiting a range of wildlife inspired art during Art Weeks 2016.
Dorset Art Week celebrations will take place at the visitor centres, with art exhibitions running from Saturday 28th May until Saturday 11th June 2016.
Local artists will be displaying a range of artistic mediums including sculpture, textiles, jewellery, watercolour, photography, crockery, collages and embroidery.
The Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre is a modern accessible visitors’ centre nestled next to the iconic Chesil Beach and Fleet Lagoon. Literally a stone’s throw from the beach, the centre has an education exhibition area, the Taste* café, a shop, activities for children, a pay and display car park, and stunning views across the wildlife-rich Lagoon and Jurassic Coast.
The Kingcombe Centre is central to Dorset Wildlife Trust’s work in supporting people to engage, celebrate and connect to the landscape. The Centre, which is set amongst 1,000 acres of nature reserve, near Dorchester, provides courses, free parking, a café, events, and accommodation to enable its visitors to fully immerse themselves in nature.
Dorset-based landscape and wildlife artist, Antonia Phillips will beexhibiting during Art Weeks at both the Chesil Beach Centre and the Kingcombe Centre. She said, “I am delighted to be exhibiting at both DWT venues this year. The Trust has been part of my life for a long time, having worked with them for nearly 30 years, so I am pleased and proud to be showing my new work, which I plan on tailoring to each venue. I will be exhibiting new paintings in acrylic, miniprints, cards and atmospheric coastal monotypes (printmaking). Watch out for oystercatcher, fulmar, rushing streams and wild seas!”
DWT’s Individual Giving Manager, Fiona Sansom said, “Art Weeks is always such a great event for Dorset and DWT. The art we’re displaying is inspired by Dorset’s landscape and wildlife, so those who love art and nature won’t be disappointed. We’re also delighted that a portion of the profits will be donated to DWT, to help us continue our conservation work in Dorset.”
