Initial thoughts:

It’s basically not Blairites and not Corbynistas.

My main concern is the lack of ‘leave’ MPs (I am a Remainer BTW). Lisa Nandy as Foreign Secretary is worrying. Genuinely very worrying. No Clive Lewis, Dawn Butler or Barry Gardiner is also odd for me. As is removing Shami Chakrabarti. It’s basically ‘beige’.

Could have been worse, could have been better. Beige is going to have to move more left than their instincts as, genuinely, economically as things are now in this crisis, Progress and the Blairites are to the right of the Tories. So Labour will have to be AT LEAST as radical as 2019 Manifesto, otherwise their is no clear red water.

What this does do is allow Progress et al to admit Jeremy Corbyn was correct policy-wise without actually admitting it. The fear is, genuinely, the lack of ‘leave’ voices, Keir Starmer being a ‘sir’, and the top jobs being what will be perceived as VERY white liberals….

But I will give them opportunity to shine and see how things develop.

I will absolutely give them support and every chance.

However, can you imagine trying to tell ‘traditional’ Labour voters who voted leave, that this lot represent them? I mean that in purely pragmatic terms, honestly.

I obviously want them to succeed, I just think their has been too much focus on Remain and nowhere near enough re leave. Why that is significant is that Starmer has made it VERY easy for Tories and media to ramp up the liberal elite perception and how do the main jobs look like they represent the many BAME voters we have?

  1. I am not a supporter of either Labour or Conservatives as I live in Scotland and support the SNP. I did support Labour when I lived in Wales as I supported Jeremy Corbyn, an outstanding leader.
I agree that this opposition is not BAME friendly at all but as for having no “Leave” ministers then why not? Johnson has only “Leave” ministers in his cabinet and has got rid of most “Remain” colleagues.
