Speaking as a Remainer, it is smart politics by Starmer by confirming Labour will not attempt to take the UK back into the EU. I mean, absolutely nothing wrong with standing up for what you believe in, but I wish he and my fellow members realised this about a year ago. We would be leaving with a very soft Brexit, as Corbyn suggested & was ageed in basic principle between Labour and the EU (with Starmer there), instead of what we have now.

What will be frustrating to see is all the people who destroyed Corbyn, and who would be doing the same now we’re he still in charge and saying exactly what Starmer is now, will hail this as part of their “At last a good opposition leader” narrative. The hypocritical bas**rds that they are.

It is also smart politics for Starmer to say he does not think Brexit will be done in the timeframe the Tories say it will be, but that he won’t request an extension so the government can stand by their claims. It means the Tories are truly up sh*t creek without a paddle, as with no Labour opposition, they have no one to blame when they fail. Or when they throw us into even more turmoil than we are already facing, given we are heading into the worst recession for 300 years. Again, I will point out that Starmer will get lauded for this, whereas Corbyn would be declared a traitor were he to suggest the same, by the EXACT same tw*ts who will praise Starmer now.

Starmer is finding it makes a big difference when you don’t have people constantly trying to bring down the party on an hourly basis, trying to literally help the Tories win, while stabbing you in the back on a minute-by-minute basis, and when the media don’t all turn on you en masse and make you the most lied about UK political leader in history. Despite getting more government turns than any other opposition leader in history across 3 Prime Ministers… I said I would praise where due and call out where I disagree. So, credit where it is due here with Starmer now realising what was comfortably the main reason was we lost the last election. If only Corbyn had been supported in such a way….
