The Dorset Local Plan is out for public consultation and ends on 15 March 2021. The Plan will last at least until 2038, so will shape all development for the next 17 years – that’s a long time. Anything built in that time will leave a legacy lasting for several generations.
We cannot afford to get it wrong. Yet the consultation period is very short and many feel it is hard to engage with.
The People’s Assemblies have helped to demystify the local plan and brought people together across Dorset to discuss aspects of it.
So we’d just like to remind people that this Saturday we are holding another Assembly on this topic and all are welcome to participate. The joining details are below.

The Dorchester area People’s Assembly last Sunday afternoon was well received; we had some competition from exceptionally nice weather, but we saw a good turnout, with high quality engagement, valuable discussion and appreciation for the opportunity to come together.

Also in attendance were quite a number of local Councillors, who recognised the benefits of such interactive discussion with the public:

On Tuesday evening 2nd March, Corfe Castle Parish Council became pioneers of the People’s Assembly approach; the first Council in Dorset to host and promote their own People’s Assembly in response to a public consultation, great interaction and turn out!
