Another on Saturday 6th March 2-4pm

The Dorset Local Plan is out for public consultation and ends on 15 March 2021. The Plan will last at least until 2038, so will shape all development for the next 17 years – that’s a long time.  Anything built in that time will leave a legacy lasting for several generations.

We cannot afford to get it wrong. Yet the consultation period is very short and many feel it is hard to engage with.

The People’s Assemblies have helped to demystify the local plan and brought people together across Dorset to discuss aspects of it.

So we’d just like to remind people that this Saturday we are holding another Assembly on this topic and all are welcome to participate. The joining details are below.

People’s Assembly on Dorset Local Plan

The Dorchester area People’s Assembly last Sunday afternoon was well received; we had some competition from exceptionally nice weather, but we saw a good turnout, with high quality engagement, valuable discussion and appreciation for the opportunity to come together.

Thank you, James, for running the meeting for our breakout group and giving me the confidence in expressing my views.

Also in attendance were quite a number of local Councillors, who recognised the benefits of such interactive discussion with the public:

“Thank you all. I think you should ask Dorset Council to engage in People’s Assembly in various places on the 2nd part of the consultation”

You can listen to co-organiser Julie-Ann Booker review the event with Rob Mott at Keep 106 radio:

On Tuesday evening 2nd March, Corfe Castle Parish Council became pioneers of the People’s Assembly approach; the first Council in Dorset to host and promote their own People’s Assembly in response to a public consultation, great interaction and turn out!

“SO PROUD OF OUR COUNCIL!!!!”

“Thank you so much for such a great and very well run meeting.  It is brilliant to be able to be part of the conversation and meet lots of others too.  Zoom is proving to be a fantastic forum enabling so many of us to get together so easily.  See you all again!”

We hope to see you on Saturday, and please share the details with people in your network. Everyone is welcome. For more info go to Dorset Action: https://dtaction.co.uk/local-plan/
