Officers investigating an assault on a woman outside a Bournemouth school are appealing for witnesses and issuing a CCTV image of a man they would like to identify.

The incident occurred outside St Clement’s and St John’s CE Infant School on St Clement’s Road between 3pm and 3.05pm on Thursday 30 September 2021. The victim was reportedly approached from behind by a man and hit on the back of the head, then slapped twice in the face.

The offender appeared to be on a video call and was recording the incident. The man made off in the direction of Palmerston Road.

He is described as white, aged in his late teens to early 20s and with brown hair. He was wearing all black clothing and white trainers.

The victim sustained a cut to her face as a result of the assault.

Police Constable Alice Fay, of Boscombe Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was a nasty unprovoked assault and we are carrying out enquiries to try and identify the man responsible.

“I understand there were a number of people in the area at the time of this incident and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please get in touch.

“I am also issuing a CCTV image of the suspect leaving the scene, I appreciate it is not the clearest image but I am hopeful it may help jog someone’s memory.”
