Officers investigating a reported racially aggravated incident in Bournemouth are appealing for the victims to come forward to assist with the investigation.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.21pm on Monday 8 June 2020 of a man shouting racially aggravated abuse at two male members of the public in The Square.

The victims are unknown but described as black.

A 39-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested nearby on suspicion of using racially or religiously aggravated words with the intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Olivia Galliver, of Bournemouth police, said: “Dorset Police is committed to tackling all forms of hate crime and a full investigation is underway.

“I am keen to identify the victims of this unpleasant incident to enable us to find out exactly what happened and I would urge them to please make contact with us.

“I would also ask anyone with information that may assist my enquiries to please get in touch.

“Finally, I would like to thank the members of the public who called in to report this incident.”
