On Saturday March 17th 2018 at 13.10 The Dorset Destroyers Wheelchair Rugby Club started their epic 26 hour Marathon of Wheelchair Rugby 5’s at Rossmore Leisure Centre, Poole, BH12 4HR.

What’s Wheelchair Rugby 5’s, I hear you ask? Think of it as a bit more based around the Invictus Games version and open to many more disabled people with a physical impairment.

Teams consist of five players on court and a maximum squad of 12.

Wheelchair Rugby 5s is played over two periods of 12 minutes.

We played, and played and played. 3 players got injured, 2 leaving at 9am as they couldn’t continue anymore and we then lost a bit of help because of the snow, so it got very close to the bone, but everyone who played contributed so much that we made it through to the 26 hours target that we set ourselves.
