Abbey Pharmacy, the long-established Sherborne town centre pharmacy and perfumery have just donated close to one hundred and fifty items to the Sherborne Food Bank.

In August and September this year, the business ran a promotion where it agreed to donate one item from its toiletry range for every person who signed up for its monthly newsletter. As a result, the collection basket was close to full. Interest was so strong they left the basket in the store right up to the beginning of December as customers added even more items to the basket.

Said owner, Mike Hewitson, “After speaking to the team at the food bank we realised it wasn’t just food they needed. It was soaps, hair shampoos, toothpaste, in fact, a full range of toiletry products.

I’d like to thank each and every one of our customers for their generosity. The idea has proved to be such a success we have decided to leave the collection basket in place, and hopefully, with more donations, we can give the food bank even more help over the next few months.”
