Air Radio’s Party in the Park

Two stages; lots of stalls (including balloon modelling, visual displays and even more for the kids than ever before including a Bouncy Galleon and Crooked House attractions) and people galore enjoying the music and sunshine. From 11.00 until 18.00 locals and not so locals gathered at Lodmoor park, set up chairs and blankets and rejoiced at the blue sky (eventually) and the buzz.

‘Performances included Amy Mayes (below),

Bob Kirkpatrick, Big Al Whittle, Logan Carter and The Ukelaliens.

There was also a small food village including Hog Roasts, Wonky Cakes, Pizza, Fish Stalls and even a German Bratwurst stall! Aura will be providing the drinks bar too!

The event was totally FREE but with the aim that the public would make a donation to help keep Air radio station alive and kicking! This tremendous non commercial entity is the speck of hope for local radio as time and and again music and discussion are spoiled by pointless and inane commercials.

I was very fortunate to actually meet Ian Sedwell and his partner Jane. Ian has been a long term friend on facebook but as with the entity that is social media our relationship was lacking the face to face and tactile. The ever wonderful Carl Ashwin (Air presenter of Drive Time) and founder Carl Greenham were bouncing around along with many others working hard to ensure success for the event. Local legend Mark Vine was also in attendance.

Smiles everywhere across the generations and demographics. Remember to keep them going by tuning in to AIR RADIO AT 107.2 FM or by listening via web.
