Annual Big Guy Fawkes Event on Weymouth Seafront

Residents and visitors are invited to come down to Weymouth Seafront for a night of fun at this year’s free Big Guy Fawkes Event on 5 November.

Entertainment starts at 3pm with the fun fair on the Pavilion forecourt and stalls along the seafront, followed by the traditional free Children’s Guy Fawkes competition at 6.45pm in the Pavilion Theatre Foyer. Prizes have been donated by the Pavilion Theatre, Alexandra Gardens and Weymouth Swimming Pool (SLM).

Children wanting to enter the Guy Fawkes competition should meet in the Weymouth Pavilion foyer with their Guys at 6.45pm. The competition will be judged by special guests including the Mayor of Weymouth and Portland Cllr Kate Wheller, Wessex FM Breakfast Presenter James O’Neill and Pavilion Pantomime Stars.

The highlights of the night will be the lighting of the giant beach bonfire at 7.40pm and the fantastic fireworks in Weymouth Bay at 8pm.

Weymouth & Portland Borough Council Tourism and Culture brief holder Cllr Rachel Rogers said: “Weymouth’s Big Guy Fawkes Event is always hugely popular. Lots of families visit Weymouth seafront, creating a wonderful atmosphere in a safe environment at one of Britain’s great traditional annual events.”

This year the Weymouth Guy Fawkes event will also feature a Quad Bike demonstration on Weymouth Beach (Pavilion end) at 6.30 pm. The demonstration, hosted by the organisers of the Weymouth Quad X (ORE Events) is to promote this year’s Big Quad Bike event on Weymouth Beach 15 and 16 November.

For people attending the evening’s activities there is free car parking available in all borough council-run car parks after 6pm.

Please note:  All events and festivals are subject to weather / environmental and operational conditions.
