Only a week to go and festival event lovers will be pleased to know that Anonymous 2015 is a more jam packed event than ever before.

The Anonymous festival will take place on Saturday the 29th August from noon to 7pm at Maumbury Rings in Dorchester (gates open at 11am to get yourself a good spot!)

The event is open to anyone and is FREE to attend – plus the activities are all free too!

This year there are more acts than ever packed onto the main stage promoting some of the most talented and interesting young bands and musicians from across the South West.

With 9 acts on the main stage this year and a range of different musical styles on offer there really is something for everyone. Acts for 2015 include The Frontiers who are a local 4 piece band who play predominantly indie rock but with a funk influence that creates a fresh original sound. Also performing is Theya, aSomerset based Pop-Folk songstress and self taught pianist who, at the young age of 20, has already performed at the 100 Club (London) and the The Millennium Centre (Cardiff). And headlining this year are Banana High who play an eclectic but livelyfusion of reggae, rock, punk, ska & pop originals. The band have been gigging together for many years already and writing their own songs and aim to carry on their adventures for a good while to come.

Emma Scott, who coordinates the festival, says “Anonymous is a fantastic event as it showcases some incredibly talented younger musicians who you might not normally get to hear. These performers are dedicated, they practice hard and many of them have already released songs and played on some big stages. I have no doubt that some of them will go far in the music business – so this is a good chance to catch them before they get famous and be able to say you saw them at the start of their careers!”

“Also, we still have a couple of spaces left in our open mic tent for performers to come forward – so do get in touch if you would like to sing a few songs at the event or maybe tell some jokes or perform some magic!”.

As ever the day is about more than great music. There are a whole host of activities and performances that have been put together to give Dorchester a day to remember.

There will be the opportunity to try out free running with ‘Train Hard Parkour’ and slack lining with the amazing‘Maverick Slacklines’ team. There will be a bouncy castle and inflatable bungee run as well as a chance to get crafty with graffiti art and craft workshops. Plus new this year there will be a photo booth for you to come and have your pictures taken with family and friends. In fact everything you need for a great day out with the family – as well food stalls and delicious locally roasted fresh coffee.

Charley Pepper, volunteer with Dorchester Youth Extra, said “I helped out last year, I had a great time and was really impressed with the quality of the music”

This year the Open Mic area will return, sponsored by Keep Love Sweet, with a second stage of live music all day, a chill out area, and even a rap workshop!

There will also be some hilarious performance shows from the hugely talentedJoseph D’Amour Bouffonwho will be demonstrating some impressive circus skills.

The organisers of Anonymous have had great support from many organisations and would like to thank Dorchester Town Council, Keep Love Sweet, the Police and Crime Commissioner and West Dorset District Council.

So come along to this wonderful free event on the29th August – rain or shine – and support this brilliant community festival.
