A film about Jeremy Corbyn banned by the Glastonbury Festival is going to be shown at a new anti-censorship event on Saturday 29 July.

The event, called Uncensored The Festival, will, according to its organiser, Crispin Flintoff, be the start of a “fightback for freedom of speech.”

Mr Flintoff said: “This event is going to be a massive protest against the state of political debate in this country. We are going to highlight the way left wing views are being constantly censored and ignored by the mainstream media.   If you watch the telly you’d you’d believe  the only choice is between Sunak and Starmer — but that’s not true at all. There is an alternative and we are going to put it out there.”

Uncensored The Festival will be held in the countryside just outside Bristol and will feature comedy, music and outstanding speakers against censorship including film-maker Ken Loach.

Mr Flintoff, who in the past raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for Labour by organised over 250 stand up comedy events, now believes the party has gone in totally the wrong direction and is terrified by the prospect of Starmer getting to power.

He said: “Labour under Starmer is not interested in fairness, social justice or equality — they’re only interested in power. The  really frightening prospect is what Starmer will do if he gets into power. Then the censorship will really start and god help anyone who tries to tell the truth about Starmer’s Britain.”

The climax of the Uncensored The Festival will be the biggest ever screening of the film, “Oh Jeremy Corbyn — The Big Lie” on a giant inflatable screen. The film claims Corbyn was a victim of a campaign of smears and questions the role of Keir Starmer in Corbyn’s downfall,

Mr Thomas, the film’s producer, says the festival screening will send a strong message to the people who, he claims, have been trying to suppress the screenings the film and will be a great symbolic blow against censorship.

He said: “Since Glastonbury gave into pressure to drop the film, screenings have been repeatedly cancelled with venues across the country subject to abuse and threats. The same people who smeared Jeremy Corbyn as antisemitic have been smearing this film as antisemitic — which is an outright lie.”

He added: “I invite anyone who has any doubts about the film to come to this festival and see it.  Why should people try to stop people seeing this film? What are they afraid of?”
