Detectives investigating an assault in Bournemouth town centre are renewing their appeal and are issuing an additional CCTV image of the suspect.

The incident happened at around 3am on Saturday 30 March 2019 when the victim, a man aged in his 20s, went to intervene in an altercation outside Walkabout in Old Christchurch Road involving a man and two women.

He stood in front of one of the women to protect them and the man became aggressive, pushing the victim backwards, which caused both them falling to the ground. During a struggle on the ground the victim felt the man pulling and scratching at his face.

After others intervened, the victim was able to get away and discovered blood coming from cuts to his face. He went to hospital where he was treated for a torn eyelid and injury to his tear duct, which required surgery.

Detective Constable Kat Rawlings, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We have continued our investigation and in the process have been able to obtain an additional CCTV image of the suspect.

“As this is of a better quality than those issued originally, I am hoping that somebody will recognise the man and help me identify him.”
