Officers are issuing CCTV images of a suspect following an assault and attempted theft at a shop in Christchurch.

At around 2.45pm on Sunday 18 April 2021 a woman attempted to steal around £200-worth of meat from Marks & Spencer on High Street.

The woman was challenged by members of staff, but she became aggressive and a tussle occurred to try and obtain the bags from the offender. The meat subsequently fell on the floor and the woman left the shop.

During the incident, it is reported that the woman kicked one of the staff members. They did not sustain any injuries.

Police Community Support Investigator Richard King, of Christchurch police, said: “It is not acceptable for someone to be assaulted while carrying out their job and I am carrying out a number of enquiries into the incident.

“I am now in a position to release CCTV images of the female suspect and I would ask anyone who recognises her to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would also like to urge the woman pictured to please come forward so we can take your account of what happened.”
