Officers investigating an assault on a bus driver in Bournemouth are issuing a CCTV image of the suspect.

At around 10.55pm on Wednesday 8 January 2020 the driver had stopped the number 16 Morebus service at The Square in the town centre when a man and woman attempted to get on the bus with just one ticket between them. When the driver challenged them the man made threats toward him and threw a bottle of fizzy drink over the victim.

The liquid also caused damage to the bus’s electronics and the vehicle needed to be taken off the road.

The man and woman left the bus and attempted to get on another one but were unsuccessful and made off in the direction of St Peter’s Church.

Police Constable Samuel Perry, of Bournemouth Police, said: “We have been continuing to investigate this matter and have now obtained a CCTV image of the suspect.

“I would urge anyone who has any information as to his identity to please contact us.”
