At School With Nigel Farage: “He Was An Extreme Racist Who Had No Friends”

While Nigel Farage’s fascist comments regarding his belief that Hitler was right and that Jews should be gassed are reasonably well publicised, I think it would also be wise to disseminate some more personal stories about Nigel.

I went to Dulwich College at the same time as Nigel. When I was made a prefect, he took great pleasure in escorting me to the junior school playground, where he demonstrated how to randomly select a pupil of Indian descent for detention.

I think he thought I might follow his goose-stepping footsteps.

Indeed, if smartphones had been widely available at this time, we would no doubt have footage of him goose-stepping as this was a fairly frequent sight in the playground, particularly when he was a prefect in the upper sixth (year 13).

We know from publicised letters that teachers were concerned about Nigel’s overt racism.

He had a particular issue with Indian children at Dulwich College and indeed, when there were more Patels than Smiths in the school roll, he made a public ceremony of burning that school roll in protest.

I witnessed many such statements of contempt from Nigel while he celebrated his NF initials being identical to that of the National Front, which at that time was a major vehicle for extreme racism.

Nazi salutes were standard.

I think it’s a testament to Nigel’s approach to minorities that one of his closest connections at school, who unfortunately died during lockdown, was most proud, as was stated in his eulogy, that he had punched Nigel in the face.

Nigel was, and I’m confident still is, an extreme racist who had no friends at school.

He was a figure of derision in all quarters.

I could go on; there are many such stories of Nigel’s deeply ingrained and hostile behaviour in relation to racial minorities.

I don’t think there can be any doubt that he remains a dyed-in-the-wool racist.

Sadly, this must be because at some time he himself was hated.

This was certainly the case while he was at school.

I would be interested and surprised if any schoolmates crawled out of the woodwork to contradict any of this.

I deeply hope that he does not get elected into any office whatsoever, and it has been a travesty that he was elected to any such office in the past.”
