Attempted rape in Bournemouth: Do you recognise this man?

Detectives continuing to investigate reports of an attempted rape in Bournemouth are issuing CCTV images of two people they would like to speak to.

The incident was reported to have occurred sometime between 1.45am and 2.30am on Saturday 13 January 2018 at an address in Wimborne Road in Winton.

The victim – a woman aged in her 20s – was reportedly assaulted by an unknown man who was among a group of people she had met that evening.

Following an investigation by detectives, a 31-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape on Thursday 14 March 2019 and has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

As part of these enquiries, officers are now issuing CCTV images taken from outside of the Saxo bar in Charminster Road on the night of Friday 12 January 2018, which show two men they would like to speak to. It is believed the men got into a small black car after leaving the premises.

Detective Sergeant Stef Belton, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are keen to speak to these men as we believe they may have information that can assist with our investigation.

“We appreciate this incident was some time ago but we have a duty to investigate every line of enquiry available to us and are appealing to anyone with information as to the identity of these men to please contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk, or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55180006298. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
