VIP’s celebrated the beginning of Christmas at Weymouth’s BIG Christmas reception on Thursday 30th November.   The real ice rink and Lighting up Celebration took place on Friday 1st December with the introduction of FREE PARKING in Weymouth from 3pm every day in town centre car parks from 1st December until 31st December.

The BIG Christmas ice rink was opened by Mayor of Weymouth & Portland Cllr Kevin Brookes and MP Richard Drax plus Gold Sponsor Asda and other Bronze sponsors and Weymouth BID directors.   VIPs also enjoyed a very special ice skating performance to ‘Belle’ from Beauty and the Beast from Ava Wilson.  Talented Ava had travelled down from Basingstoke to give the performance after her mother contacted Weymouth BID and asked if she could perform.

Dressed in a sparkly top hat and coat, a second performance was given by Milena Benedetto, who also performed at the opening last year.    Santa took up residency in his grotto in Cineworld where he will be every December weekend and the three days leading up to Christmas Day — Tickets now available online at £5.

Steve Newstead, Chair of Weymouth BID said “ Christmas is the perfect time to revel in the Christmas spirit and make a day of it – meet Santa, skate on the rink, Shop by the Sea in Weymouth’s range of high street and boutique stores, enjoy Weymouth in winter then relax in one of the town’s cafes, bars or restaurants.  We also have special events like carols around the Christmas Tree on Sunday 17th December, Silent Disco sessions on the ice on 9th and 16th December and our special “Space to Skate” sessions for those who like the rink to be a little less crowded.”

Weymouth’s BIG Christmas is proudly supported by Gold Sponsor Asda and Bronze sponsors : Resort Marketing, Weyline, Sherrens Printing, Oakes Insure, Fish n Fritz, Pennywise, Weymouth College and Milsted Langdon
