Residents and visitors are invited to Weymouth Seafront for a night of fun at the free annual Big Guy Fawkes Event on Tuesday 5 November.

The fun starts at 4pm with the fabulous family funfair on the Pavilion forecourt, joining many traditional stalls and attractions on Weymouth Seafront. At 6.45pm, theĀ traditional childrenā€™s Guy Fawkes competition gets underway in the foyer of the Weymouth Pavilion. Judging and prizes will be provided by the Weymouth Pavilion, Alexandra Gardens Pleasure Grounds and Weymouth Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre.

Children wanting to enter the Guy Fawkes competition should meet in the Weymouth Pavilion foyer with their Guys from 6pm. The competition will be judged by special guests including the Mayor of Weymouth Town Council Cllr Graham Winter, the Wessex FM team and the cast from Weymouth Pavilionā€™s Christmas pantomime ā€˜Cinderellaā€™.

A popular highlight of the evening will of course be the lighting of the giant beach bonfire at 7.40pm, followed by the fantastic fireworks display in Weymouth Bay at 8pm.

Weymouth Town Council Mayor Cllr Graham WinterĀ said: ā€œWeymouthā€™s Big Guy Fawkes Event is always a great spectacle and very popular, creating a wonderful atmosphere on Weymouth Seafront. Many thousands of people come down to Weymouth to enjoy and share one of our great local events in a unique fun and safe environment.ā€

ā€œIā€™d like to thank Dorset Waste Partnership, the Town Councilā€™s Parks Department, Weymouth Harbour and many other local businesses for donating the pallets for the giant beach fire this year, as well as Edgar Moxom and Masterplan Offshore for providing HM Denham for the firework display platform.ā€

For people attending the eveningā€™s activities there is free car parking available in all Dorset council run car parks in Weymouth after 6pm.
