Since its launch in August 2013 the Bournemouth Young Volunteer Award Scheme has issued over 561 certificates to  548 young people aged 13-19  recognising over 15,000 hours of volunteering within their local community.

The awards are endorsed by Bournemouth Borough Council, Bournemouth 2026 Trust and Bournemouth Council for Voluntary Service and recognise young people who give up their own time to give back to their communities in a number of different ways.

Fundraising, charity shop working, Brownie & Cub leading, litter picking, running, assisting at community events and volunteering in youth & children’s projects are just a few of the creative ways young people are actively giving back to their communities.

Certificates are awarded when young people take part in one off events or accumulate 20, 50, 100, 250 and 500 hours of volunteering. Young people are asked to keep a simple record of hours that are verified by their youth leader to be eligible for an award.

Helen Hender from the Bournemouth Council for Voluntary Sevice notes, ” There are 100’s of young people across our town giving up their time to volunteer for their local community.  This event is our opportunity to recognise that commitment and thank them for their work.”

An evening of celebration is being held on November 27th, at the Life Centre in Bournemouth, where we will be recognising, showcasing and appreciating the amazing work of these young volunteers from across our Town.  We invite you to join us and help support the positive efforts our youth are investing in their town.

Booking is essential.  For an invitation please call 01202 466130 or alternatively you can register directly at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/bournemouth-young-volunteers-celebration-tickets-13626765021.
