“Bournemouth Coastal BID helps Southbourne to bloom!”

Bournemouth Coastal Business Improvement District (BID) and ‘Southbourne-on-Sea Business Association’ (SoSBA) have been delighted with how Southbourne has blossomed this year and have been reflecting on the increase in visitor numbers and  the introduction of the open top, red, City Sightseeing Bournemouth buses.  This year has seen a new route taking City Sightseeing buses out to Southbourne, Tuckton, Hengistbury Head and Christchurch.

On the back of the new tourist bus route, Southbourne received financial support from the town’s Coastal BID, enabling them to decorate 5 of the bus shelters on Southbourne High Street with eye catching floral displays, bound to catch passengers’ attention.

Sam Acton, President of SoSBA exclaimed, “The flowers are so important to the overall appearance of the shopping area in Southbourne. Their benefits have been apparent throughout the whole summer period, with local residents and visitors all enjoying the more attractive environment that has been created. The investment and support received from the Coastal BID has been very much appreciated.”

Tim Sanders, Director of Discover Dorset which runs the open top City Sight-seeing buses said, ”We have been pleased to work with the Coastal BID, taking our tourist buses out to the coastal villages.  Southbourne high street has looked particularly lovely this year with the floral displays and we’ve noticed how alive and prosperous the high street is looking.  There is definitely a buzz about the place!”

Des Simmons, Director of Bournecoast Holiday Agents and Chair of the Coastal BID said,”The Coastal BID is delighted to be supporting businesses in the coastal villages and helping to make a positive difference to local business communities.”
