Bournemouth Hotelier is named Southwest’s ‘Tourism Hero’

The General Manager of The Grove Hotel, Brenden Howard, has been presented with the Unsung Hero Award at the Southwest Tourism Excellence Awards.

Brenden Howard, The Manager of The Grove Hotel in Bournemouth has recently been named ‘Unsung Hero’ at a prestigious regional awards ceremony. Taking place at the Ashgate Stadium in Bristol, Brenden was presented with the Gold Unsung Hero Award at the Southwest Tourism Awards 2017. Brenden Howard is the General Manager of The Grove Hotel, the first hotel in the UK to cater exclusively for those with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, along with their families and carers.

Recognising outstanding businesses and individuals, The Southwest Tourism Awards bring people together from across the Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset tourism industries. 

Judges at the awards recognised Brenden’s commitment to providing the very best customer service to those with cancer, which has enabled them to have a relaxing and memorable holiday experience despite their life-limiting illnesses. A major figure in the success of the not-for-profit establishment, Brenden Howard has worked as the General Manager of The Grove since its doors first opened in 2011.

Brenden heads The Grove’s team of 32 loyal and long-serving staff, which also includes several 24-hour specialist nurses.

These include a Silver in the ‘Best Small Hotel’ category at the Dorset Tourism Awards 2016, The Hotels Combined ‘Stellar Stays Property Award’ for outstanding levels of customer service and satisfaction, a Bournemouth in Bloom 2016 silver gilt award and a Five Star TripAdvisor Rating.
