Bournemouth has been nominated for the Best UK Seaside Town in the prestigious 2018 British Travel Awards (BTAs). The winners will be determined by the consumer, who has until 30 September to cast their vote, with the successful companies announced at the BTA Gala Awards Dinner, being held in London on 28 November 2018.

Bournemouth is renowned as the South Coast leader when it comes to Blue Flag beaches, quality accommodation, outdoor pursuits, award-winning festivals and family fun. A popular spa resort in the Victorian era, Bournemouth’s history and culture is still prevalent but the town has seen a huge surge in regeneration over the last couple of years, including international hotel groups, a re-landscaped seafront and the stunning Bournemouth Beach Lodges. Bournemouth is a cosmopolitan town that is re-inventing itself on an annual basis and attracts 6.88 million visitors each year. It won the Best UK Seaside Town award in 2017 for a record third time in five years.

Jon Weaver, Head of Resort Marketing and Events, said; “Bournemouth is renowned for world class events and festivals which really showcase the town, its beaches and gardens to their absolute maximum potential.  We are really thrilled with this nomination, particularly as it is voted for by consumers. The British Travel Awards are renowned as a mark of quality among the industry and it’s an honour to be in the running for Best UK Seaside Town. The enthusiasm of the trade working with the Council has seen large scale quality development over the last few years which has helped Bournemouth to retain its status as a top UK destination in a highly competitive market.”

BTA chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: “The British Travel Awards give you the opportunity to reward travel and tourism enterprises for outstanding performance in service delivery and product offering. Voting in the 2018 Awards is now open and nominated companies have until 30th September to lobby their happy customers for votes – good luck to Bournemouth.”

The British Travel Awards are considered the benchmark for excellence when it comes to finding out who really is the best in the travel industry. The British Travel Awards is a proudly independent organisation, verified by leading global business practitioners, Deloitte.
