Brand new open water swim, aquatriathlon and paddle (kayaking and SUP) event coming to Weymouth

The Ecover Blue Mile, Weymouth19th-20th July

After dipping our toes in the stunning water of Weymouth Seafront, host venue of London 2012 we are heading back to Weymouth on the 19-20 July to make an even bigger splash. Yes folks, we will be hosting a brand new open water swim, aquatriathlon and paddle (kayaking and SUP) event over two days for individuals, families and teams. Weymouth Town provides shelter to its pristine beach from all but a strong easterly wind and therefore provides a fantastic location for the Ecover Blue Mile. The two-day event features a timed open-water swim, stand up paddleboard and kayaking programme, aquatriathlon and corporate team challenge.

The event caters for families with children and those wishing to push their own personal limits. The event village includes activities linked to sport, health and the environment with opportunity for “have a go” taster sessions and demonstrations.

Taster Sessions

Here at the Ecover Blue Mile, we like to see as many people as possible enjoying the blue environment and sport – and all that this perfect combination has to offer.

Which is why we are calling on mums, dads, kids – everyone! to have a go at kayaking and stand up paddle boarding (SUP).

We know that these sports aren’t always accessible for everybody. We are running our taster sessions free of charge, but we would ask for a donation of £3 which goes straight to our charity partner, the Marine Conservation Society, so it can continue its vital work in helping to protect our seas, shores and wildlife.

The sessions are run with our partners, Naish UK and Fatyak Kayak, who are providing the world class SUP boards and kayaks that you’ll be using. You’ll be helped by trained instructors and safety jackets are provided.

So, all you need to do is turn up on the day – and have fun!
