Cancer Hotel offers welcome retreat this Ovarian and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

The Grove Hotel, for patients with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, is supporting those with Ovarian and Prostate Cancer throughout March and beyond.

This March and throughout 2016, The Grove Hotel in Bournemouth will be supporting those with Ovarian and Prostate Cancer. The not-for-profit hotel, run by Macmillan Caring Locally, ispassionate about supporting people in the local community, providing a welcomed holiday retreat for people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. As part of their support, they want to make more people aware of Prostate and Ovarian Cancer, so they are able to recognise symptoms, get early diagnosis and ultimately overcome the diseases.

The Grove Hotel is hoping to help raise the profile of the disease further by signposting people to relevant charities that can help locally. The hotel is also inviting local and national charities to visit and see how their unique offering is able to help those with Ovarian and Prostate Cancer.

In the UK, prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men, affecting over 44,000 every year; women in the UK have a 1 in 54 chance of developing ovarian cancer.

Brenden Howard, Hotel Manager at The Grove Hotel, said:

“Having supported many people suffering from cancer we are passionate about tackling these important issues. Throughout March, we hope to get people talking about prostate and ovarian cancer, to help those who are battling the disease. We will also continue to provide those suffering from cancer with a welcome retreat to help ensure they are not limited by their illness through March and beyond.’’

The Grove Hotel is set in beautiful gardens near Bournemouth’s clifftop. It is run by the charity Macmillan Caring Locally and is designed to provide a quality holiday with rooms that are warm and comfortable, boasting private bathrooms with heated towel rails, a flat screen TV, internet access, an emergency call button, emergency pull cords, hair-dryer, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, welcome toiletries and fresh towels. Nurses are also on emergency call 24 hours a day.
