Detectives investigating an assault in Bournemouth town centre are issuing CCTV images of the suspect.

At around 3am on Saturday 30 March 2019 the victim, a man aged in his 20s, went to intervene in an altercation outside Walkabout in Old Christchurch Road involving a man and two women.

He stood in front of one of the girls to protect her and the man became aggressive, pushing the victim backwards before they both fell to the ground. During a struggle on the ground the victim felt the man pulling and scratching at his face.

After others intervened, the victim was able to get away and discovered blood coming from cuts to his face. He went to hospital where he was treated for a torn eyelid and injury to his tear duct that required surgery.

Detective Constable Kat Rawlings, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are carrying out an investigation into this incident and I am now in a position to issue CCTV images of the suspect.

“I appreciate they are not of the best quality but I am hoping someone will be able to recognise him and would urge anyone with information as to this man’s identity to contact us.”
