Officers investigating a race hate incident in Weymouth are issuing a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.

At 5.08pm on Thursday 16 August 2018 a man reportedly entered McColl’s on East Street in Chickerell and used abusive and offensive language, which made a member of staff feel the need to leave.

Enquiries have been carried out in a bid to identify the man involved but these have not been successful.

Police Sergeant Richard Barnett, of Weymouth police, said: “As part of my investigation I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of a man I would like to speak to and I would urge this man or anyone who recognises him to please contact me.

“Dorset Police is committed to tackling all forms of hate crime and is keen to encourage people to report it. It is a priority for us to ensure that victims of hate crimes or hate incidents are supported and appropriate actions are taken.”
