Officers investigating a sexual assault on a woman in Christchurch are issuing a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.

The incident occurred at around 2am on Sunday 15 March 2020. The victim – a 19-year-old woman – had spent an evening in Soho bar with family. She left the bar at around 2am and began walking down High Street where she was approached by a man near to the Regent Cinema. They walked together down an alleyway by Kelley’s Kitchen.

The man then pulled down his trousers, grabbed the victim’s hand and forced her to touch him sexually. The victim tried to pull away but the offender again forced her to put her hand down his trousers while she was against a wall. He eventually walked away.

The victim sustained minor bruising and grazes as a result of the incident.

Police Constable Mark Mills, of East Dorset police, said: “This was a very distressing ordeal for the victim and we have been carrying out a number of enquiries into this incident.

“As part of our investigation I am issuing a CCTV image of a man I would like to speak to.

“I would ask anyone who recognises him to please get in touch.”
