Officers continuing to investigate an alleged assault in Weymouth are issuing an image of a man they would like to identify.

It was reported that at around 12.50am on Sunday 29 September 2024 an altercation occurred near to the junction of Caroline Place and Westham Road.

A man aged in his 30s sustained serious facial injuries as a result of the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Afterwards, the alleged offenders travelled along The Esplanade, before heading into Kings Street and Ranelagh Road.

Following earlier enquiries, a 27-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, affray and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Officers have now obtained an image and a description of a man they are looking to identify in connection with the incident. He is described as white, around 20 years old, six feet tall and of slim build with scruffy hair.

Police Constable Mia-Isabella Bowditch, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and have now obtained an image of a man we are looking to identify.

“I appreciate the image is not the best quality, but I am hoping someone may recognise him from his clothing and the description given.”
