Consumer body out in force from 2nd -8th December, and they want to hear YOUR voice…

Healthwatch Dorset, the consumer champion for users of health and social care services across the county, are holding a week of events to promote its services during the week of Dec 2nd – 8th. The organisation, which gives people a voice to air complaints and compliments about local health and social care services, will host events across the county all week to meet the public and gauge their opinions on local services.

One of the partners of Healthwatch, the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), will be helping and supporting these events, kicking off at Kinson Library as well as the CAB office in Bournemouth Town Hall. The teams will also have a presence in Bridport, Christchurch, Dorchester, Sherborne, Poole, Weymouth, Portland, Wimborne and Purbeck, where there will even be a tractor and trailer float in the ‘Father Christmas Arrives in Wareham’ Parade 8th Dec, helping to promote the work done by both the CAB and Healthwatch.

Caroline Buxton, Healthwatch Lead at the Citizens Advice Bureau explains, ‘We’re delighted to celebrate Healthwatch Week from 2nd -8th December. This week we will be all over the whole of Dorset county, allowing us to really hear what people have to say about their local service, whether it’s about their local GP or the care home that looks after their parents – we WANT to hear what people like and what they don’t like, so that we as an organisation can really bring about meaningful changes in the system!”

An army of “Healthwatch Champions” are also being recruited by Healthwatch, to help spread the word about the organisation and its work. The volunteers, of all ages, races and genders, are also being asked to help get local people to contact Healthwatch with any positive or not-so-positive feedback.
