Community groups can bid on community asset

Groups who qualify under the Community Right to Bid can notify their intention to bid for a property in Mosterton.

Mosterton Post Office and Stores has been put on the market by its respective owner and the property is listed by the district council as an asset of community value.

This means that when properties registered on the list come up for sale community groups have extra time to develop a bid and raise money before landowners decide who they wish to sell to.

Community groups who qualify under the Community Right to Bid have from now until26 Mayto notify the district council in writing of their intention to bid on the property.

Written notifications should be sent to Spatial and Community Policy, South Walks House, Dorchester, DT1 1UZ or by email to [email protected]

West Dorset District Council Leader Cllr Robert Gould: “This village post office and stores  is on our list of assets of community value  because we recognise the importance the building has in  the rural community.

“We strongly recommend community groups who qualify under the Community Right to Bid to notify the council of their intention to bid by26 May.”
