Dorset Wildlife Trust has 8 conservation skills training placements available through the Heritage Lottery funded Skills for the Future project. The training programme is aimed at highly motivated individuals with an interest in nature and wildlife and an enthusiasm to gain the skills required for employment within the conservation sector. The roles available are listed here, and applicants are to submit one application only, with a priority option to be considered for up to 4 of the 8 places.

Please note that this is a 12 month training opportunity only and there are no salaried positions offered on completion of the programme.

No formal educational qualification or training is required but applicants must be able to demonstrate their potential and desire to learn new skills, work as part of a team and the personal commitment to complete a comprehensive 12 month training programme.

Priority in shortlisting applicants will be given to young people aged between 16 - 25 years and not in education training or employment, although applications are open to all.

The training programme will cover a wide range of professional qualifications applicable to all posts, as well as a structured programme of skills training specifically aimed at the individual roles. In addition, there will be a framework of consolidation and informal training working alongside Dorset Wildlife Trust staff.

A total bursary of £9000 will be payable in monthly instalments to trainees accepted onto the programme.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Wednesday 14th November 2012.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an initial selection day on Friday 30th November 2012. This selection day will consist of an introductory briefing to the programme and a series of team and individual activities with Dorset Wildlife Trust staff. Candidates will then be further shortlisted, for invitation to interview on Friday 14th December.

All candidates will be informed of selection decisions by December 19th.

The Training Programme will start on Friday 1 February 2013.

Successful candidates will be expected to sign a Training Agreement prior to commencement of the programme
