All we had to do was listen. Listen to other countries. Listen to our own people. Listen to those who genuinely know.
However, the history of empire and ‘superiority’ means we are screwing it up and screwing it up big time.
Respectful participatory democracy has to be the outcome of this mess or western societies including the UK, and England in particular, will sink even further than they are now. And now is a wholly undesirable place.
