Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following a suspicious incident in Weymouth.

At around 4.50pm on Friday 26 April 2024 a woman was sitting in the passenger seat of a parked vehicle in Lower St Edmund Street when an unknown man approached.

It is reported that the man attempted to open the driver’s side door, before walking round to the passenger door and trying to open it.

The woman managed to hold the door shut and the man did not enter the vehicle.

He is described as white, aged in his late 60s and approximately five feet 11 inches tall with a white beard and moustache. The man was wearing a blue Puffa-style jacket with a ‘Freedom Trail’ logo on it, light brown khaki trousers, a grey wool beanie hat and silver wire-framed glasses with tinted lenses.

Police Sergeant Matthew Love, of Weymouth police, said: “The man did not make any attempt to speak to the woman in the vehicle, but it was a distressing incident for her.

“We would like to identify the man to establish the full circumstances of the incident and would ask anyone who recognises him from the description given to please get in touch.”
