The team at the Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole is continuing its fundraising efforts for another year by nominating the charity MARINElife and St Mungo’s to support in 2018.

John Grinnell, centre manager at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, said: “As the centre is such a prominent part of Poole, we relish any opportunity to give back to the community. We hope that by continuing to support local charities, that we can support even more people in our area.

“Both of the charities we have chosen do amazing work locally and we wanted to use our position to help raise the profiles of the charities amongst our customers.”

MARINElife is a charity which aims to further the conservation of the wildlife of oceans and coasts through scientific investigations and educational activities.

John added: “We chose to support MARINElife because of the synergy with our eco-friendly and sustainable agenda. We have recently been awarded a Green World Award for our environmentally friendly practices and we want to be able to give back to a charity that mirrors our objectives.”

Rick Morris, chair of trustees for MARINElife, said: “We’re very grateful to the Dolphin Shopping Centre for nominating us to be one of its chosen charities for the year. Our volunteers work tirelessly to further the conservation of the wildlife of oceans and coasts, so it’s a great fit with the eco-friendly initiatives employed by the shopping centre.
“Money raised through this new partnership will help support the funding needed for scientific research on whales, dolphins and seabirds in the oceans.”

The centre is also supporting St Mungo’s, a charity that works with people who are sleeping rough, in hostels and at risk of homelessness. They help people rebuild their lives and support people away from rough sleeping.

Adam Rees, St Mungo’s regional director for the south and south west of England, said: “We are delighted that the Dolphin Shopping Centre has chosen St Mungo’s as one of its nominated charities. I’d like to thank staff and patrons for their support.

“Every penny raised can help change someone’s life as St Mungo’s works to offer a route out of homelessness for some of the most vulnerable people in Bournemouth and Poole who are sleeping rough. The money will ensure this important work by our teams based in the area continues to support people to find a place to call home and fulfil their hopes and ambitions.”

In 2017, the Dolphin Shopping Centre supported Lewis-Manning Hospice and Chestnut Nursery as its nominated charities.
