Poole Town made what looked like a tricky match, into a comfortable victory. Cirencester came to Tatnam looking to upset the odds and further boost their own promotion aspirations, but with Dorchester Town loanee, Warren Byerley leading the line, and Captain fantastic, Micheal Walker leading the team from the back, the Dolphins were not to be out done.
Poole went ahead as early as the 15th minute when the ever impressive Keith Emmerson played a beautifully weighted pass through to Luke Burbidge who in turn crossed in for Byerley to slot home. Both sides then had chances to add to the scoreline but, with the Dolphins looking more and more dominant at the back, it was difficult for the Centurions to break through. Poole led at the break 1-0.
Any hopes that Cirencester had of getting back into the game were quickly ended just a few minutes after the restart. On 50 minutes Warren Byerley scored his second goal of the game. Pocket rocket Steve Devlin headed across the face of goal, and Byerley was on hand to nod home. Four minutes later Devlin was instrumental again, this time providing a pin point cross for Micheal Walker to score with a powerful header. Cirencester’s woes were compounded when substitute Sam Collier fell awkwardly, and after a lengthy delay, Collier was stretchered off. The game then petered out with the Dolphins in complete control. Final score 3-0
The Dolphins now have a difficult run up to Christmas as they face three away trips, the first being Abingdon, followed by Didcot and Clevedon respectively. Poole’s next home game will be on Boxing day when they entertain league struggler’s Sholing.
