On a night where the Galacticos of Real Madrid played Sheik Mansour’s mega rich Manchester City, in what was billed as the Billion pound match, Poole Town’s F.A Trophy replay with Beconsfield SYCOB was a pint of lager and packet of crisps in comparison. Mind you at this level, two and a half grand at this level is better than poke in the eye with pointy thing!
The two sides played out a 0-0 bore draw last Saturday, which meant a replay on Tuesday night was required to settle the tie. Poole started brightly but had to wait until just before half time when wing wizard Carl ‘Prezzo’ Preston lashed home to give the Dolphins the lead at the break. Poole started brightly after the interval and it wasn’t long before Poole doubled their lead. Marvellous Marvin Brookes, Poole Town’s tribute to Amy Winehouse then spanked one in and Wembley was beckoning. Beconsfield briefly rallied and pulled a goal back, however the prodigal son returns with King Karim Lammali making it 3-1 with a sublime finish. At this the Red & White Army behind the goal stripped down to the waist (men only may I add) and waved their shirts in the air, “OLE OLE OLE OLE” was the cry, and the mighty Dolphins took one step closer to Wembley glory.
