As a citizen media site, we occasionally get given the wrong information. In the case of the tragic killings in Australia, this was one of those moments.

It appears that the perpetrator of the terrible events in Sydney was not the responsibility of the person we published.

We will endeavour to make sure that this does not happen again.

From all the team at Dorset Eye, our thoughts go out to all the victims, their families and friends, and, of course, the people of Australia.

We would also like to add that those who blamed the incident on a person of Islamic origin should also hold their hands up and apologise.

Among those are Channel 4 employee Rachel Riley and presenter Julia Hartley Brewer, who has now removed her tweet.

We hold our hands up now, and so should they and all the others who got it wrong.
