This racially profiled image is prominently displayed on the Weymouth and Portland Police Facebook page. The unacceptable message to the public is clear – young black men are responsible for so-called county lines drug-trafficking.

If this image was deliberately posted by our local police, it goes a long way towards explaining why Dorset has highest rate of Stop and Search for Black people in the whole country. At 25 times more than white people, this is even higher than London and a massive increase on previous years. Such racial profiling can lead to the marginalisation of Black communities, wrongful arrests and, at very worst, deaths in police custody.

We demand that this provocative image is taken down immediately, with a full public apology to Dorset’s Black communities and to all who oppose racism.
