DWT invites families to ‘go wild’ in Dorset this Easter

This Easter, Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) has some great events to get kids outside and having fun with nature at our visitor Centre’s in Dorset and on DWT nature reserves.

Join the Kingcombe Centre in Toller Porcorum, west Dorset, this Easter for their weekend celebrations, from Friday 25th– Monday 28th March. On Saturday, come to the centre to collect your map for our way marked Easter egg hunt through the reserve; complete the trail and claim your prize! £4 per child, 11am-3pm.   Craft activities will be available all weekend in the barn.  Visit www.kingcombe.org to book onto Kingcombe kids’ club events running throughout Easter.   

In east Dorset, The Great Heath team have an Easter woodland craft day on Friday 1st April.  Fun activities, crafts to take home and games will be led by our conservation officers in Delph Woods. £5 per child.  On the same woodland theme, join us for a Forest Schools taster session at Upton Country Park on Tuesday 5th April from 10am-12pm.  There will be games and crafts using natural materials. £3 per child.  Booking is essential for both these events on 01202 692033.

DWT Communications Officer, Sally Welbourn said, “Our wildlife events are perfect if you already have a wild child, or if you want to do something different to keep your children entertained this Easter.  This is a great time of year as spring is in the air and wildlife is starting to wake up. Soon our meadows will be bursting with the first flowers and the first birds singing.”

Over at Lorton Meadows Conservation Centre in Weymouth from Friday 25th March – Monday 28th March, the ‘Eggsplorer Trail’ will guide children around the reserve to hunt for clues to identify bird eggs.  Return to the Centre to receive an Easter reward!  There will also be fun Easter crafts at the Centre all weekend. £2 per child. 10.30am – 4pm.

Fun for all the family, the Chesil Beach Centre is running its Seashore Scavengers event on Wednesday 30thApril.  Take a walk along Chesil Beach, hunting for rare pink sea fans, shark eggcases and other treasures blown in from the Atlantic.  Meet at the Chesil Centre from 11am – 12.30pm. £2 per person.  Also enjoy Easter treats at the Taste* café, open from 10am daily.
