Bournemouth Coastal BID is inviting people to join the 12 Days to Christmas competition, using the augmented reality GoBoCoast app to find elves hidden in Westbourne and win prizes in the run up to Christmas.

Residents and visitors are being invited to join in a hunt for more than 40 elves who are up to mischief in businesses around Westbourne. Kids of all ages will need to spot the Christmas tree jars hidden around Westbourne. Once the jars have been found, the cheeky creatures will only be revealed with a little help from the Go Bournemouth Coast app. Those taking part have to scan the marker on the jar using the app on their smart phones to make these magical creatures appear. To enter the competition, entrants will then need to take a photo of the elf and share it on either Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #GoBoCoast for the chance to win.

The latest GoBoCoast competition aims to add to the fun factor of Christmas shopping, especially with little ones in tow, whilst providing entrants with the opportunity to win a range of fantastic prizes. Families will need to find as many of the 40 Christmas Jars and eight virtual elves as possible between the 10th December and 24th December to be in with the chance to win. There are a range of prizes to be won from tickets to Bournemouth Air Festival, shopping vouchers, games and toys. The lucky winners will be announced on January 10th 2019.

To help them along, participants can Look out for clues on the GoBoCoast app, as well as on Bournemouth Seasons social media; @bournemouthseasons on Facebook, and @bmthseasons on Twitter.

Bournemouth Coastal BID has organised several similar competitions with its state-of-the-art interactive app previously, with great success; hundreds have joined in the fun, contributing to seasonal increases in footfall.

Stefan Krause, Bournemouth Coastal BID Manager, said:

“This brilliant app has already provided so much entertainment for families visiting Bournemouth’s coastal villages in the past, so we have no doubt they’re going to have a tonne of festive fun with this elf hunt too.

“It is a great way to explore Westbourne’s range of enticing shops and eateries, and we hope it will be a big boost for the festive feelgood factor, and footfall alike. Good luck to all. Let’s get elf hunting!”
