‘Flog It!’, the popular BBC antiques and collectables valuation programme, will be coming to Highcliffe Castle to value items on 17th June and you are invited to join us.
Said David Hopkins, Highcliffe Castle Manager: “This is a fantastic opportunity to, once again, put Highcliffe Castle on the national map. We are delighted that the “Flog It!” team has chosen us as a location.”
Whilst the details and logistics for filming are still being finalised, the date for members of the public to bring along their items for valuation and possible inclusion at auction is firmly set as Wednesday 17th June 2015.
Added David: “Whilst the ‘Flog It!’ team are keen to see any of your collectables or antiques, the Castle staff would especially like the public to bring along any items that relate to Highcliffe Castle, particularly items from the house sales. Although we know that a lot of items were looted from the Castle during the 1960s and 70s, such as stonework and internal decorative items, no questions will be asked – we just want to see and record these items and maybe have the chance to buy some of them back.”
The Castle has previously been the location or subject for many other programmes, including The Antiques Roadshow, Weekend Watch Dog – Live, Heritage – Love it or Lose It, ITV The Year of the Promise, The Real Kaiser Bill, and Wexford. Also, countless local TV and radio links, including a That’s Life programme in 1974, an Enid Blyton film in the 1960s and a recent German film of a Rosamunde Pilcher novel.
Details of the Highcliffe Castle ‘Flog It!’ Valuation Day can be found now on the BBC ‘Flog It!’ webpages at www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/beonashow/flogit12.
