Free parking will be coming to Weymouth town centre this December.

Members of Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s Management Committee have agreed to offer free parking between 3pm-6pm everyday from Saturday 3 December to Saturday 31 December in the town centre.

The borough council has worked closely with the Weymouth BID to coincide this offer with the launch of Weymouth’s Christmas festivities.

Cllr Jeff Cant, Leader of  Weymouth & Portland Borough Council and Chair of the Management Committee, said: “This parking initiative has been very successful in previous years and I am sure will encourage shoppers to come into Weymouth throughout the month to experience the warm welcome the town offers during the lead up to Christmas.”

Nigel Reed Weymouth BID Manager said: “We are pleased to announce that the “real ice” rink is returning as the focal attraction in the BIG Christmas campaign over December promoting “Shopping by the Sea.”

Linking this free parking incentive into the campaign under the “free from three” will help support the campaign when shops traditionally open longer.”

This offer will apply to the following car parks: Swannery, Melcombe Regis, Cosens Quay, Royal Yard, Governors Lane, Park Street, Pavilion and council offices.

The borough council also agreed to free parking from noon for the BIG Christmas Lighting up ceremony on Saturday 3 December and for those buying Ice Rink tickets online the opportunity to park all day for £3.50 at the Swannery Car park.
