Weymouth’s Remembrance Sunday service takes place on Sunday 9th November at the War Memorial on Weymouth Promenade from 10.55am. Members of the public are invited to attend and join the Mayor of Weymouth, veterans, Councillors and members of the Armed Forces to remember the service and sacrifice of all those who have and continue to defend our freedoms.

On Saturday 29th November, Weymouth’s Christmas lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Weymouth at 5pm in New Bond Street. This event coincides with a variety of other festive activities and entertainment happening throughout the day, including a giant elf parade, organised by We Are Weymouth. Visit their website for more information.

Shoppers will be able to park for free on Saturday 6th December, which is Small Business Saturday. This is a national event organised to encourage people to shop locally and is an opportunity to support Weymouth’s small businesses that are a key part of the town’s retail offer. To conclude a busy day of shopping, gather around the Christmas tree in New Bond Street at 5pm for Carols by the Coast and enjoy the special atmosphere as the Salvation Army Band play some festive favourites.

The final free parking date for 2025 falls on Monday 22nd December and provides a great opportunity for last-minute shoppers to visit Weymouth, support local businesses and carry out any final preparations ahead of Christmas Day.

Cllr Matt Bell, Chair of the Environment and Services Committee, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Dorset Council once again to offer these selected free parking dates, which will support key events such as Remembrance Sunday, where members of the public are welcome to join us for the poignant service at Weymouth War Memorial. The free parking dates in December will also provide a real boost for the town and encourage more people to visit Weymouth town centre in the run up to Christmas.”
