Clive Dunn was a lifelong socialist who was born on 9th January 1920.

Famous for playing Lance Corporal Jones he was described by his co star Ian Lavender as the cast member with the most time for the public. “Out of all of us he had the most time for the fans. Everyone at one time or another would be tempted to duck into a doorway or bury their head in a paper; but not Clive, he always made time for fans.”

Clive died following complications during an operation in 2012 having spent the last three decades of his life living in the Algarve, Portugal. During this time he had turned his focus to painting portraits, landscapes and seascapes, earning a living as an artist.
