On January 1st 1919 Jerome David Salinger was born.

Thirty two years later Salinger’s semi auto biographical novel ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ was published and went on to become a literary classic. By 1979 the novel was the most censored book of all time in the US but the 2nd most frequently taught in US high schools.

The following interview with his son reveals the real J. D . Salinger and defuncts some of the myths.

Salinger died aged 91 in 2010.
