Increasing membership has led to five new Green Party groups being set up in Dorset.

A year ago the party had one branch covering the whole of South East Dorset.

Now, however, new branches are being formed in Christchurch, East Dorset, Poole and Purbeck – as well as Bournemouth.

Helen Woodall is secretary of South East Dorset Green Party (SEDGP). She said: “Our membership keeps going up and I’m regularly getting calls from people wanting to find out more about our policies and help us as volunteers.

“I think there are huge numbers of people who are fed up with the big parties – and aren’t interested in UKIP’s ideas. The Green Party is dedicated to working for the common good and that’s striking a chord with so many voters.”

The new local groups all have meetings coming up in January. The Christchurch group meets on Saturday January 3rd, Poole on Sunday 4th and East Dorset on Friday January 9th. Meetings will also take place in Bournemouth and Purbeck later in the month.
