Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was assaulted in Weymouth town centre.

Between 4am and 4.30am on Saturday 31 August 2019 a local man aged in his 20s was walking on New Bond Street toward The Esplanade when he was assaulted.

It is reported that the victim was punched in the head and face and hit with a glass object by a man. The victim fell to the floor and was kicked and punched by three other unknown men.

He sustained head and facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police Constable Samantha Thomson, of Weymouth police, said: “An investigation is underway to identify the offenders and establish the circumstances of this incident.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the assault to please get in touch.”
